Position Overview
Throop Elementary is hiring a dedicated and engaging 3rd-grade teacher who is passionate about helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We are looking for an educator who brings energy to the classroom, uses data to drive instruction, and builds strong relationships with students and families.
Key Teaching Responsibilities
Deliver standards-aligned instruction in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies
Use data to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
Create a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
Implement effective classroom management strategies
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet learning goals
Collaborate with team members, other teachers, support staff, and administration
Maintain consistent communication with families
Support social-emotional learning and student well-being
Participate in professional development and school initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field
Valid Indiana teaching license/certification for elementary education
Strong understanding of the Science of Reading literacy instruction and foundational reading skills
Knowledge of differentiated instruction and intervention strategies
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching at the elementary level (especially 3rd grade)
Familiarity with state assessments (e.g., IREAD & ILEARN)
Training in the Science of Reading literacy, SEL practices, or trauma-informed teaching
Experience using student data to drive instruction
